This apartment is one of three in a modern, industrial-like 3-story GuestHouse located right at the entrance of Pavão-Pavãozinho favela (Brazilian name for shanty towns) in Copacabana, succesfully pacified in 2008.
Experience what favela (Brazilian name for shanty towns) life is like staying in this all-inclusive, fully re-built minimalist-style 35m2 studio, one of the three apartments of an imposing 3-story GuestHouse, located in Copacabana.
Right at the verge with Ipanema, 3 blocks away from the beach and a few steps from the main commercial artery in the neighborhood, Ave. Nossa Senhora de Copacabana, Copa Studio @ Guest House comfortably accommodates 2 people and has capacity for other two.
This apartment’s main door is striking green, which matches the contemporary colors of utensils and ornaments in the inside. The kitchen is equipped with everything (fridge, microwave, blender, basic utensils) needed to prepare simple meals, not involving heating since there is no stove for cooking.
Copacabana Guest House owned by Louri and Renato has been totally remodeled with demolition materials and transformed from a traditional house from the 1950s, into 3 totally independent and functional apartments, becoming 5 in total in the near future, after further renovation work is finished. The entrance facing Rua Saint Roman is neat and clean; minimalist, totally welcoming. Two steep stairs drive to each apartment composing the Guest House.
The environment inside is quiet and relaxing, contrasting the liveliness of Pavão-Pavãozinho, one of the first favelas founded in Rio de Janeiro sixty years ago when migrants from northern Brazilians came to live in the city to work in civil construction. It is common to hear loud music coming from the bars and restaurants in Rua Saint Roman, and easy to see motorcycles, cars and people eagerly going in both directions, as it happened in a typical, busy street in Rio.
Pavão-Pavãozinho was pacified back in 2008; it is also expected to see police patrols at the entrance and in the surrounding areas.

A 46-year old business man and designer devoted to hosting tourists from all over the globe. Born in Rio de Janeiro, Louri speaks English. Sensitive and detail-oriented, he very much enjoys adventure cycling and is always well accompanied by his two female Greyhound Italian racing dogs.

Copacabana/ Leme
Praia de Copacabana is one of the worldwide most famous beaches, the centerpiece of Rio de Janeiro’s coasts. With its classic crescent 4-km long curve anchored at one end by the imposing presence of Pão de Açúcar (in English: Sugarloaf), Copacabana first gained famed in 1920 after the opening of the high-class, ArtDeco style Copacabana Palace Hotel and that later evolved into an international watering spot for world’s most glamorous celebrities.
Today a highly commercial, busy borough with high population density (it hosts 160 thousand people in a 8km2 area), mostly of elderly cariocas, the Copacabana district begins at Avenida Princesa Isabel (at the very border with up-scaled bairro Leme, bordered by Morro do Leme) and ends at Posto Seis where lies the Forte de Copacabana (today with the Museu Histórico do Exército it was built in the early 1910s by the Brazilian army.)
Residential buildings from the 40s through the 70s, eleven to thirteen stories high were built right next to each other in shady streets, divided by Avenida Nossa Senhora and Rua Barata Ribeiro the main commercial, business and residential roads in the neighborhood. Copacabana’s square-lined more 100+ streets are filled with an uncountable number of local botecos (beer and food bars), natural fruit juice and sandwich taverns, small family-owned grocery and home good stores, drugstores and more. High-end restaurants, hotels and nightclubs are all along the coast, throughout the magnificent Avenida Atlántica.
Copacabana Beach is outlined by the globally well-known black and white geometric wave of pavement landscape, designed by Burle Max and completed in 1970. The beach hosts millions of locals and tourists during the annual New Year's Eve celebrations and, in most years, has been the official venue of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup.
